Following my disastrous incident on the road bike, I decided to spend a leisurely afternoon in the open fields gunning around my nitro-car and sessioning Jongman’s kite. This was my first time kite-flying and as hard as Jong tried to instruct me, I couldn’t get the hang of it, its a lot harder than it looks. Nevertheless I had a great time, if these gale force winds continue, I’ll try to get footage of Jongman and his mad kite-flying skillz, he can make it breakdance…no joke. For more open field goodness, check out Jongman’s flickr.

This past weekend I got some love from the asphalt and by love I mean I got pummelled. Before my first official crash on the road bike, my headwind fested 40 miler was going well, that is, until I decided to top off the ride with a quick climb up Turnbull Canyon. After I reached the top I started my descent back down snaking my way from switchback to switchback, I was flying high until the last sweeping U-turn when a black suburban full of rowdy teenagers ran me off the road. Punks almost rear ended me causing me to lay down my bike at around 35 mph. Its ironic, I always thought my first real crash on my road bike would have been during one of my commutes to or from work in LA, not on the open roads of Hacienda Heights and especially not by a bunch of punk teenagers driving lifted suburbans. My body’s a wreck; road rash + muscle pains + swelling = crappy sleepy time, even worse is the condition of my Lemond, poor thing, I just gave it a overhaul not so long ago. Could have been worse, I guess, nevertheless god is still in control.
